Barcelona is widely renowned as one of the greatest party cities in the world. Truth. If you’re looking to spend your abroad experience raging at clubs until the sun comes up and lounging on the beach, Barcelona is your spot. However, there are definitely some cons about choosing Barcelona as your study abroad destination. While it is on the beach, the weather does not really get warm enough for beach days until early April and ends in early October, so you may only get about a month of beach time. Also, the food will not be the best in Europe, and it will not be cheap. But you will have one of the wildest five-month stretches of your life. Some highlights of the daily Spanish lifestyle include sipping on sangria while cheering on one of the top soccer teams in the world, enjoying a much needed midday siesta after exploring the vast array of bars on every block, only to end your night watching the Mediterranean sunrise at 7:00AM after dancing the night away at an oceanside discoteca. You will also be able to experience the revolutionary idea of Loco Lunes (aka crazy Mondays). This will change your idea of Monday forever. Fridays and Saturdays are great in Barcelona, but Mondays are what have people falling in love with the city every semester.

In addition to the beach-side ragers, Barcelona is also home to some of the most beautiful art and architecture in the world. As much as it might hurt, wake your ass up and don’t miss out on the wonderful culture that surrounds you every day (see Sights/Things to Do). You will regret it forever.
